Our qualified staff follow the National Curriculum to provide your children with opportunities to make Music.
Key Stage 1
- We Listen, We Appraise -we develop a love of all things musical.
- We Sing, We Chant -we understand more about the world around us.
- We Play, We Move -we learn the inter related dimensions of music.
- We Create, We Perform -we show others how much our music means to us.
Key Stage 2
- We Develop, We Listen – we show how to listen with discernment
- We Adapt, We Change- we improvise and start compose
- We Play, We use ICT- conventional and electronic music
- We Perform, We Inspire- a future with transferrable skills learnt through music.
Through all ages we use a variety of recorded, and whenever possible, live music to inspire our student. We sing and chant in a variety of styles to appeal to all and use best practice to ensure high quality results. Our inspiring teachers have access to their own resources allowing them to differentiate between groups and classes. Activities that can be undertaken/ resources used are Samba and African drumming, use of IWB lessons, Sing Up sessions, Class sets of Keyboards and percussion instruments- tuned and un tuned. We use class assembilies to encourage our students and offer them opportunities to perform. All our staff have access to current CPD to ensure they are current with all learning strategies. Our teachers will offer assessment on your students, along with lesson plan overviews, in a pro-forma style so that your staff can easily access their learning journey. Sample lesson plans are available on request.
